The Software Developer is responsible for designing and developing backend and frontend solutions within ARCHIBUS (a facilities management application) to provide customized, integrated software solutions to clients and internal team. This includes understanding client needs, analyzing data, coding, testing and implementation within ARCHIBUS, configuration tools and database and web technologies (SQL, Java, HTML, etc.) and creating end-user documentation and training support.

To be successful in this role, you will need extensive knowledge of programming languages and the software development life cycle.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team to gather and develop operational, technical and data requirements to meet client's specific needs
  • Provide solutions through data analysis, code review, editing, query development and testing
  • Design and implement relational database table structures, relationships and schemas
  • Create end-user documentation (application tutorials), FAQs and application notes for internal and external audiences
  • Perform quality checks on system data and published drawings
  • Provide quick trouble shooting for teams using the system
  • Design and produce standard and ad hoc reports for clients
  • Perform user testing for system enhancements and upgrades
  • Assists with maintaining test sites to ensure appropriate accessibility for team members and alignment with production sites
  • Perform product audits and provide defect resolution or enhancement recommendations

Experience, Competencies and Educational Requirements

  • Certification and/or relevant experience in Java programming/development
  • 2-3 years prior experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficient in SQL, HTML, XHTML, Java, JavaScript, Scripting, Agile process, Sourcing, etc.
  • Experience with ARCHIBUS, and/or Web Central preferred
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts and systems, including strong SQL skills
  • Previous experience in QA/QC is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong technical background with proven problem-solving skills, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Internet technologies and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
